This ruby throated hummingbird was photographed at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park, 5400 Levee Rd, St. Martinville, Louisiana. The red buckeye blossom was photographed at my home in Georgia. The composite is roughly to scale, as the red buckeye flower is huge. It's a Georgia native, and ruby throated hummingbird love this very slow growing tree/shrub. It's not a very showy tree, except for the two weeks or so in the spring when it is in bloom.

My mother was an artist, and on school holidays, when she had classes at the art museum, I got to spend entire days roaming the galleries of the Cincinnati Art Museum. My twin sister is an artist, and my father took up photography about the time I did, when I was in college.
