Description
These bats are nesting in the eaves an outhouse right over the men's and woman's entrance, and I noticed them primarily because of the strong urine odor, and the yellow streak down the stone wall of the proverbially well built outhouse, even though they were located in an already smelly location. I didn't feel too bad about disturbing their daytime rest since they were colonizing right in a high traffic location... Obviously the guy on the top of the heap is the most nervous about a potential predators, but he wasn't disturbed enough to change his position or move, other than to look/listen in my direction. I had to slave flashes on light stands and a third flash on my camera, and I'm sure that and the high frequency whining of the flashes as they recharged was very obvious and novel to them.
The location was at the end of the road in a the Coronado National Forest campground at
the outhouse in the Cochise's Stronghold Campground near Cochise, AZ
